Scholarship

Applications to be completed and sent in by April 30, 2026.

The 7th District Federated Garden Clubs of New York State, Inc. announces that the application for the “2026 Books for Scholars Award” is available. It is the desire of the Award Committee to offer $1000.00 this year to a qualifying student. The Scholarship Award will be governed by the following criteria and rules:

Applicant must be sponsored by a member of a Federated Garden Club of New York State.

• Must be a high school senior who has been accepted for enrollment at an accredited college/school, or a student who is currently attending an accredited college/school on a full/part-time basis.
• The applicants “Course of Study” must be in horticulture, floriculture, landscape design, botany, plant biology, forestry, conservation, agronomy, environmental studies, city planning, land management, wildlife science, or other allied subjects.
• The application is to be completed by the student and signed in his or her own handwriting.

The application must be accompanied by the following:

• Letter of Recommendation from a FGCNYS, Inc Member club.
• Letter of Recommendation for a relative, teacher/professor, guidance counselor/advisor, or other adult.
• Proof of acceptance from an Accredited College/School.
• Personal Letter written by the applicant requesting this grant.
